Oil on panel 12”x 16”
During this painting session, a storm came up suddenly, changing the lighting in an instant, so this was indeed a fleeting moment capture. In calmer weather paddlers in red and yellow canoes explore along the base of these massive rocks, looking like tiny specs in comparison.
What a contrast Mazinaw Rock is to city neighbourhoods! You are spellbound by the massive scale (A geologist would enjoy these) and enthralled, searching for petroglyphs. Some are very faint, but you get better and better at spotting them among the colourful lichens and stains.
